About LTITL

01 Jul 1999

LTITL (Larsen and Toubro Information Technology Limited) is one of India''s leading and fastest growing software consulting companies. LTITL traces its origin from the division of Larsen and Toubro that it was- L&T ISD (for information services division). This division has been in operation for over 15 years and was hived off as a fully owned subsidiary company in 1997.

LTITL has the rich experience of providing large scale application solutions on diverse platforms and clients. It has gained global experience in software services and has over ten international offices and eight software development centres. This includes two offsite centres in the US and six offshore centres in India. It grew from an annual revenue of 22 million USD in 1997-98 to 38 million USD in 1998-99 and looking to post 78 million USD in 1999-2000, growing at a compounded annual rate of 80 per cent.

LTITL has over 1400 professionals working on areas as diverse as remote maintenance of legacy systems, euro-compliance solutions, high-end telecom solutions, SAP R/3 solutions, CAD/GIS services and embedded systems catering to industry sectors like banking, insurance, manufacturing, retail, utilities, telecom and information technology. It has gained quality ratings like ISO 9000 and SEI level-3 and is set to achieve SEI level 4 by the end of this year.

LTITL is in charge of all exports and services that the erstwhile division used to handle. Initially, it was to provide domestic services to its parent company, before it moved into marketing software and services in the Indian market. The idea behind the demarcation of areas was that solutions and services would be with LTITL while manufacturing activities would remain with the parent company (hence the parent company retains the printer, data storage and peripherals business).

It is premature to talk about the future of the company post-restructuring that has been reported recently. Even now the company maintains its separate identity inspite of being from the same group. But then the company has imbibed the values, ethics and professionalism of its parent company. LTITL still looks to its privileged parent company and drives on with its approach to business leadership, outlook, partnerships and business processes.
