The 'fly ash utilisation mission', TIFAC, department of science and technology, of the government of India has selected ACC for the national award for the 'best user in India' of the mineral component fly ash.

The award was presented by Kapil Sibal, minister of state for S&T and ocean development, A Raja, minister for environment and forests and PM Sayeed, minister for power, government of India.

ACC has been using fly ash from thermal power stations and slag from steel plants — both hazardous and pollutant industrial wastes to make composite cements that offer unique advantages and special properties as compared to ordinary cements.

ACC transforms fly ash, a power sector waste pollutant, to create a new class of cements that go into making high performance concrete that offers higher strength and better durability under the brand ACC Suraksha for use in RCC, PCC and cement masonry applications for structural and non-structural applications.

ACC is actively engaged in the promotion of alternate fuels and raw materials and in co-processing waste materials through the use of cement kilns as co-processing units. It is also the pioneer and the largest producer of blended cements in the country.
