Adani grid-connects world’s largest solar power plant in Tamil Nadu

Adani Green Energy Ltd, the green energy arm of mining and infrastructure conglomerate Adani Group, today announced the grid connection of its 648-MW solar power plant in Tamil Nadu, the world's largest solar power unit built at a single location.

The 648-MW solar power complex in Tamil Nadu, which is considered to be world's largest in a single location, was built at a total cost of about Rs4,550 crore ($679 million/ €609 million) and within a record eight months' period, reports quoting Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani as saying.

"This is a momentous occasion for Tamil Nadu as well as the entire country. We are extremely happy to dedicate this plant to the nation. A plant of this magnitude reinstates the country's ambitions of becoming one of the leading green energy producers in the world," Adani said.

The plant, located in Kamuthi, Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, consists of 380,000 foundations, 2.5 million solar modules, 576 inverters and 154 transformers. It is now connected to the 400-kV Kamuthi substation.

The project is part of Tamil Nadu's goal of reaching 3 GW of solar power.
