Air India union defers strike after talks with NACIL

19 Dec 2009

A section of the Air India employees that was threatening to go on strike from 22 December has decided to defer action following an assurance from the National Aviation Co of India management to look into their grievances.

The employees owing allegiance to the Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU), which is one of the unions of the erstwhile Indian Airlines that was merged with Air India, had on 7 December threatened to go on strike alleging that the management had violated a conciliation pact signed with its representatives in regard to their transport contract way back in February 2001.

The assurance comes after the ACEU representatives had a meeting with NACIL, the recently-created holding company of flag carrier Air India, at the Regional Labour Commissioner's office in New Delhi on Friday, a union leader said.
