Aircel launches GSM mobile services in Gujarat

Aircel rolled out its GSM mobile services in Gujarat today, extending its telecom base to 22 circles.

Gurdeep Singh, chief operating officer, Aircel, said, ''The Gujarat launch brings us closer to the completion of our pan India roll-out. We will be introducing products and services uniquely tailored to meet the special needs of our Gujarat consumers.''

A range of post-paid plans starting with a monthly rental of Rs499 with inbuilt 1,400 minutes to be used across local, STD and roaming (on Aircel network) along with 2,500 SMS and inbuilt pocket internet and unlimited dialer tunes for one month were launched.
 
Aircel also introduced its pocket internet cards, which offer the consumers unlimited browsing, business packs for SME's and a rich bouquet of VAS services with localised content including a WAP portal page in Gujarati for any GPRS handset.

Aircel PocketApps, launched in association with Infosys this year, allows consumers in Gujarat to download free applications at Rs7/week.

Aircel, the fifth largest service provider with a subscriber base of over 43 million, has opened flagship company outlets in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat.
