Bharti Airtel, India's largest telecommunications services provider, has launched 4G services in Kharagpur, the second city in Bengal to have the services.

Airtel has rolled out 4G using dual spectrum bands of 2300 MHz (TD LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD LTE). The combination of TD LTE and FD LTE ensures higher network capacity, which translates into a superior customer experience, the company said.

This also makes Kharagpur amongst the few cities in India to have an integrated dual band 4G network, the company said in a statement.

''We are delighted to roll out our 4G services in Kharagpur. Customers can look forward to a superlative smartphone experience with Airtel 4G and enjoy superfast access speeds. We invite all data savvy customers to upgrade to Airtel 4G and be a part of India's widest 4G network,'' said Ravindra Singh Negi, CEO, West Bengal & Odisha, Bharti Airtel.

The company is providing the services at prices of 3G, while customers will have the option of choosing from a host of tariff packs.

Airtel launched India's first 4G network in Kolkata in April 2012.

Airtel 4G enables customer to enjoy uninterrupted HD video streaming, superfast uploading and downloading of movies, music and images. Airtel 4G is available to customers across a range of smart devices including mobile phones, 4G hotspots and dongles.

In November 2015, Airtel commenced the implementation of its network transformation program - Project Leap. With a national investment of INR 60,000 Crores over the next three years, Airtel's ''Project Leap'' is a strategic company initiative aimed at perceptibly improving its network quality and delivering the best customer experience.
