Airtel launches 3G in Bangladesh

Airtel Bangladesh has launched 3G services in two cities - Dhaka and Chittagong.

''As the country ushers in an era of high speed mobile telephony, it will be Airtel's endeavor to be at the forefront of this growth story. We will continue with our philosophy of bringing unique and world-class services which will provide value for money for our customers backed by the latest technology,'' Airtel Bangladesh Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Chris Tobit said.

''With this offer I believe Airtel will capture a unique position amongst its customers in terms of communication in the form of entertainment, infotainment, edutainment, m-health and m-commerce among others,'' he added.

The schemes will enable users to enjoy high speed mobile internet, HD video streaming, file sharing and downloads and. All Airtel packages are of minimum 1 MBPs speed.

Moreover, as a promotional offer, customers will get 100 per cent bonus on each subscription of minimum 1 GB data pack purchase.

Customers availing this pack in the month of November will get a total of 12 GB bonus over the next 12 months with each subsequent purchase of 1 GB pack.

After buying the first pack the customer will get 1 GB bonus immediately. Hence against 1 GB purchase customers will get 2 GB volume.

Airtel 3G data packs will be available for as low as 15 Bangladesh taka (BDT) gaur

for 15 MB. Video calls between Airtel to Airtel customers will be only BDT 1 per minute.
