Airtel ties up IPTV services with Israeli firm

Mumbai: Airtel Broadband & Telephone Services, the country's largest private telecom service provider, has chosen Israeli firm Optibase's IPTV encoding platforms for its planned IPTV service offerings, a release by the Israeli company said.
Bharti Airtel is currently undertaking IPTV trials and is planning to launch its IPTV service in the last quarter of the current calendar year, the Optibase announcement said.
The Israeli advanced digital video service provider's carrier grade TV streaming platforms, incorporated in Utstarcom IP-based end-to-end networking solution, will be utilised by Bharti Airtel to supply high-quality h.264 video, it said. Optibase has also installed video over IP solutions for other major Indian service providers like Aksh Optifibre Ltd and Time Broadband Services Pvt Ltd (TBSL).
