AirTel ties-up with NMIMS to offer executive MBA programme

Mumbai: Cellular service provider AirTel, has tied-up with Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai to train its staff in the latest marketing techniques and prepare them to face competition.

The tie-up with NMIMS, a deemed university and management institution, is to offer MBA course to the company's executives, which AirTel believes would go a long way in help it survive the onslaught of competition.

According to Jayant Khosla, chief executive officer of AirTel, "The institution will offer a three-year executive MBA programme, which will help in providing sustained knowledge and experiential learning to AirTel's employees."

The companies intend to teach a batch of 30 employees per year, while the course would also have a module suited for the telecom industry, he said, adding, the courses would be conducted on AirTel premises.

"We are of opinion that there is a co-relation between professional education and performance, and in the long-term these employees will become an invaluable asset for the company," says Khosla.

The company is also subsidising tuition fees for employees, while the programme would be conducted on five days a week, three hours each day, spread over 40 weeks a year by senior faculty members of NMIMS, he added.

According to vice chancellor N M Kondap, NMIMS, "Candidates will be shortlisted through group discussions and personal interviews and evaluation of students will be based on parameters like attendance, participation, assignments, and final exams".
