Global telecommunications company, Bharti Airtel today unveiled a new global identity for itself.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman and managing director, Bharti Airtel, said, ''Today, as we expand on the global stage, this new brand identity gives us the opportunity to present a single, powerful and unified face to our customers, stakeholders and partners around the world.''

Airtel also announced that it has crossed 200 million customers, adding around 100 million customers in 18 months.

The new identity underlines Airtel's willingness to embrace everything that is new, the company said in a statement.

Retaining the red colour, which is an integral part of the brand and symbolises energy and dynamism, the new logo features a curved symbol as an addition that the company says will help ensure instant recognition across diverse international markets and languages.

The Airtel signature tune, which has registered over 150 million downloads, has also been revamped by composer A R Rahman, making it youthful and dynamic in line with the brand's new visual identity.

The telecom operator will also be launching its 3G services for Indian customers by the year end.

With operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa, Bharti Airtel offers mobile voice and data services, fixed line, high speed broadband, IPTV, DTH, turnkey telecom solutions for enterprises and national and international long distance services to carriers.
