Amul is all set to expand its product portfolio with the launch of a low-salt butter variant, Amul Reduced Salt Butter.

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation, the maker of the popular household food brand, says Amul Reduced-Salt has almost 50 per cent lower salt than table butter, for the benefit of consumers with high blood pressure on a restricted salt intake diet.

As sedentary lifestyles have given rise to health problems like high blood pressure, cardiac ailments, etc, consumers are turning increasingly health conscious. Amul Reduced Salt Butter would be a blessing for such consumers.

Packed in 100gm and 500gm cartons, the product is priced at Rs 20 and Rs 95 respectively.

"With rise in disposable income and educational level, the awareness of nutrition and health issues improve, which in turn raises the demand for health and nutritional products," says BM Vyas, managing director, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation. "Market studies indicate that consumers are looking for healthier alternatives. Keeping this in mind, Amul has introduced a range of functional products."

After introducing India's first sports and energy drink Stamina, Pro-biotic Ice-creams, Pro- biotic Lassi and Curd, and High Calcium Milk, Amul has now introduced Reduced Salt Butter in order to give the consumers a wide choice of healthy products, Vyas adds.
