Apollo Hospitals inks healthcare pact with Ghana government

Apollo Hospitals has signed a pact with the Republic of Ghana to develop tertiary healthcare services in Africa and provide specialised medical treatment for African patients at its facilities in India.

For a two-year period, all Apollo Hospitals would be linked through tele-medicine with hospitals in Ghana for free super-specialty consultations.

The corporate hospital chain will also assist in identifying gaps in current healthcare facilities, including infrastructure, equipment and skills, at Korle Bu Hospital in Accra in the country's south and other government-run hospitals in Ghana, Apollo Hospitals said on Monday.

Apollo's consultants will conduct cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, nephrology, neurosurgery and paediatric specialty clinics in Ghana, besides training its medical and paramedical personnel through exchange programmes.

"Apollo Hospitals will advise the government of Ghana in revamping its healthcare system. We will help the health ministry of Ghana in laying a strong foundation in tertiary care services and address the health needs of the people of Ghana," the company said in a statement.
