Apple announces iPhoneX, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

Apple yesterday announced the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus at an event in Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino. In addition to iPhones, Apple also announced several other products, with Apple Watch Series 3 being one of the major announcements by the iPhone maker.

"Today the Apple Watch is the number one watch in the world with 97 per cent customer satisfaction rate," Apple CEO Tim Cook said.

The new Apple Watch 3, which comes with cellular connectivity and several new technologies, carries a price tag of Rs29,900.

Apple Watch Series 3 comes in two models, one with GPS and cellular, and one with GPS, both featuring a 70 per cent faster dual-core processor and new wireless chip. The cellular technology allows users to stay connected even when they are away from their iPhone. In other words the all new Apple Watch 3 series with cellular connectivity allows users to stay connected, make calls, and receive texts even with their iPhone.

"We believe the addition of cellular will transform the way people use Apple Watch, providing a new sense of freedom since they can stay connected with or without their iPhone," said Jeff Williams, Apple's chief operating officer.

Apple's new smartphones feature an aluminum frame sandwiched between front and back glass. According to Apple, the devices are made out of the most durable glass ever, and the glass panel also helps to add wireless charging to the new iPhones. Apple claims that the new devices are 30 per cent faster compared to the iPhone 7.

The iPhone 8 64GB variant, is priced Rs64,000, while the 256 GB variant will be offered for Rs77,000. Further, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is priced Rs73,000 for the 64GB variant, while the 256 GB storage variant is priced Rs86,000.
