Apple stores, by Reliance retail

Mumbai: Eyeing around 15 per cent of the Rs70,000 crore-plus consumer durables market over a time span of the coming three years,  Reliance Retail has announced plans to set up around 200 Reliance Digital stores, cumulatively adding retail space of around three million square feet.

60 of the 200 would be ''exclusive iStores selling Apple products.'' According to Ajay Baijal, president and CEO of the consumer durables, IT and Telecom lines of business at Reliance Retail, Reliance is aiming at being the leading plaer in this segment, and is ramping up its presence according to that plan.

The company launched its first iStore in Hydeabad yesterday.

The largest iStore in India yet, at 3000 square feet, it will be the only referral store of Apple products in the country. 

Over the next year and a half, Reliance plans to roll out 60 iStores. Presently, there are three Digital stores in Bangalore, Mumbai and Ghaziabad in the NCR.
