Audi achieves record sales in all regions

New Delhi: Audi achieved record sales of 964,151 cars in 2007 worldwide from January through December, up 6.5 per cent from 905,188 cars sold in 2006.

Audi AG achieved record sales in more than 50 markets including an 18 per cent sales growth in India.

According to Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management of Audi AG, ''The outstanding sales figures for 2007 are an important step on the path to reaching our ambitious corporate goals. We were able to grow in all sales regions and we will continue to maintain our fast pace in 2008.''

In Europe (including Germany), Audi delivered 686,480 cars during 2007, or 4.3 per cent more than the previous year. The company's biggest export market in Europe is UK where its sales increased by 17.1 per cent.

In North America Audi, part of the Volkswagen group, the fourth-largest automobile company worldwide, gained 4.5 per cent for the year with 115,629 cars sold. Of this, 93,506 cars were sold in the US, a gain of 3.8 per cent. In the Asia-Pacific region, Audi was able to increase sales by 20.5 per cent. China (including Hong Kong) was the biggest export market in 2007 for the company.

From January to December, Audi sold 101,996 cars in China– 24.8 per cent more than during the previous year.

Africa, Near East and Middle East have also developed into important growth regions. Sales grew here by 12.8 per cent, while in the Middle East alone they rose by 38.2 per cent.
