Audi India launches A7 Sportback and RS 5 Coupe

12 May 2011

Audi India yesterday launched the A7 Sportback and RS 5 Coupe in the Indian car market. The A7 Sportback, priced at Rs64 lakh onwards is powered by a 3.0 litre TDI V6 engine, which is both, efficient, and powerful. It can also be powered by a TFSI petrol engine.

According to analysts, with similar pricing for both diesel and petrol variants, the Audi A7 Sportback based on a 2009

Detroit Motor Show concept debut would bring in volumes for the company from buyers who value customised luxury.

The Audi RS 5 Coupe, a sports car segment wonder is powered by a 4.2 litre V8 petrol engine and is priced at Rs76 lakh. The car takes on the BMW M3, in its class. Both the A7 Sportback and RS 5 Coupe uphold the company's commitment to excellence, whereby Audi India has introduced into the company cars that offer the highest in terms of design and technical specifications.

According to Michael Perschke, Audi India head, the company hoped to achieve 10 per cent higher car sales in 2011 than what was targeted earlier, which meant they would be aiming to sell 5000 units rather than 4500 units for the year.

The Audi Q3 SUV is scheduled for launch in India in 2012, whereas the A6 sedan would be introduced in August 2011. Audi has already confirmed more than 80 pre-launch bookings for the A7. While these vehicles would be delivered through the year, Audi is looking at sales of  between 100-200 units of the A7 in 2011. Estimated sales figures for the Audi RS 5 Coupe have been noted at,  between 30 to 40 units for the 1st year.
