German luxury car maker Audi India plans to launch three newer versions of the A8, A7 and A6 series this year in the country in a move to increase its domestic market share.

"We will launch the A8 with a larger wheelbase by the end of January or beginning February," said Audi India director Michael Perschke said in Chennai. "Then we will launch A7 in May-June and later in the fourth quarter of 2011 we will launch the A6."

He said the competition in the luxury car segment in India was increasing with the entry of many luxury car makers as a result of which Audi has been facing stiff competition. He added the launches would help the company achieve a 23-25 per cent market share.

"In China and Japan, we are the number one (car maker). In India and in the USA, we are growing very fast. In India ... you (carmaker) need to be patient. We intend to reach 23-24 per cent market share this year of the targetted 30 per cent", he said.

According to Perschke, with the launch of R8 5.2FSI coupe powered by the upgraded V-10 engine, the company's image would be boosted as the earlier R8 version  with V8 engine was voted the "Supercar of the Year in 2008".

The super premium two-seater sports car Audi R8 is priced at Rs1.35 crore and is being launched in India as a completely built unit.
