Bajaj Auto sees 20% drop in June motorbike sales

Indian motorcycle leader Bajaj Auto, the world's largest three-wheel vehicle maker, today reported a 14.3 per cent decline in overall sales for June.

The company sold 295,749 units in the month, down by 20,000 units from the same month last year.

The company's motorcycle sales were down 20 per cent at 2,54,544 units in June 2013, against 3,18,377 units in the corresponding month last year. Exports however were up by 3.73 per cent during the month at 1,20,399 units compared to 1,16,062 units in June 2012, , Bajaj Auto Ltd said in a statement.

It also showed a rise in sales in the commercial vehicles category, with 41,205 units as against 26,785 units in the same month last year; a jump of 53.83 per cent.

Total vehicle sales of the company last month stood at 2,95,749 units compared to 3,45,162 units in the same period a year ago, down 14.3 per cent, the statement said.
