Under a limited period offer Canadian handset-maker BlackBerry has slashed the price of its flagship device Z30 by Rs5,000 to Rs34,990.

This follows the ''enthusiastic response'' to 10th anniversary special offer on BlackBerry Z10, valid for the next 60 days, Blackberry said.

The company had launched Z30 in October 2013 for Rs39,990.

"India is amongst the key emerging smartphone markets," said Hitesh Shah, director (channel sales) at BlackBerry India. "The Indian consumers want access to cutting edge experience of a smart device combined with a revolutionary operating system – all at an attractive price point. We have seen a phenomenal response to our initial promotional offer on BlackBerry Z10 and are confident we will see similar off take for the 5-inch screen BlackBerry Z30 that combines technology and style quotient in one device."

The offer will run across all BlackBerry retail outlets. The white BlackBerry Z30 will be exclusively available on Flipkart at the same price, the company said in a statement.

Featuring the BlackBerry 10 operating system, Z30 smartphone comes with a 5-inch display and a 1.7 GHz processor with quadcore graphics that makes for faster browsing of Web pages and detailed display of games.

On 25 February 2014, the smartphone-maker had slashed prices of its Z10 handset to Rs17,990 under a lim ited period offer. This is a reduction of about Rs12,000 from the present Rs29,990. The offer has a validity of 60 days.

In February 2013, BlackBerry launched the Z10 handsets in India with a price tag of Rs43,490, following its global launch in January. The handset runs on the company's new operating system (OS) BlackBerry10 (BB10) and was later followed up by the immediate launch of Q10 and range of phones running on BB10.

BlackBerry has also launched an equated monthly installment (EMI) schemes for Z10, and later in September 2013, the company slashed the prices of Z10 to Rs29,990. This 30 per cent reduction, compared with its launch price of Rs43,490, was targeting the festival sales that start from October in India.

The smartphone manufacturer then launched the Q5 in July, the prices of which were slashed by about 20 per cent in January this year by 20 per cent to Rs19,990 from the earlier Rs24,990.
