Mumbai: BSNL has reduced local and STD call charges from its own networks to other network (landline / WLL) by reducing intra circle calls terminating in other network as well as inter circle calls for its own fixed and WLL conections and other networks by 50 per cent.

The public sector telecom giant's wireline customers will be able to call anywhere in India through fixed telephone at between Rs0.40 and Rs0.60 per minute.

Moreover, BSNL will provide all its wireline customers STD facility without any additional security deposit.

Rural customers who are paying @ Rs.0.80 per MCU will enjoy to call anywhere in India at Rs.0.40 per minute (effective rate). Customers who are currently paying Rs.1.20 per MCU will enjoy to call anywhere in India @ Rs.0.60 per minute (effective rate).

The new tariff has already been implemented throughout the country with effect from 1 March 2009 BSNL said today.

In June 2008 BSNL had reduced the call rates for intra circles calls to it's fixed line network by 50 per cent and accordingly all intra circle calls to BSNL fixed/WLL could be made for duration of 120 second per pulse, i.e. 2 minutes per call (See: BSNL halves mobile and landline STD rates, revises mobile roaming charges)
