BSNL offers free mobile connection for landline customers as Diwali gift

04 Nov 2010

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today launched a unique plan, `Pyar Jodi', which offers landline BSNL customers a free mobile SIM card to make unlimited free local calls to their landline / WLL number.

The scheme combining landline and mobile services is aimed as a Diwali gift to its customers.

In addition, customers can also make calls to two BSNL local numbers at a reduced rate of 20 paise per minute and to one BSNL number anywhere in India at a reduced rate of 30 paise per minute, without paying any additional monthly charges.

On activation, customers will also get Rs15 talk value, 1,000 local SMS, 1,000 national SMS and 1,000 MB data free.

The state-run teleco, which was lagging behind private telcos in terms of subscriber additions, added 2.5 million mobile subscribers in October despite the problems with its gear tenders and fierce competition from private operators.

Between August and October 2010, BSNL continued to add over two million subscriber every month , minister of state for IT and communications Sachin Pilot said at the launch of the promotional scheme.

"The aim of this promotional plan 'Pyar Jodi' is not only to boost mobile business of BSNL, but also arrest steep decline in the landline business.
