State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a broadband plan for Rs491, which it claims to be the “most economic broadband plan.” BSNL said this plan is already live for the users and it comes with 20GB data per day for 30 days at 20 Mbps speed.
BSNL unveiled the Rs491 broadband plan with 600GB monthly data through Twitter on Thursday.
This plan by BSNL, which is supposedly already live and up for subscribing will provide users with 20GB data per day for 30 days at 20Mbps speed in similar lines with Bharti Airtel. Besides the high-speed connection, the telco will provide free unlimited calling to any network.
The state-owned telco also highlighted that the plan is already live across their customer service centres, franchises and retailers.
Also, in June this year, BSNL introduced two new FTTH (Fibre-to-the-Home) plans priced at Rs777 and Rs1,277. Under the Rs777 plan the telco is offering 500 GB monthly data at 50 Mbps, and under the Rs1277 plan the telco is offering 750 GB monthly data at 100 Mbps speed.
Right now, BSNL and Bharti Airtel are leading telecom operators in the home broadband services sector. The announcement comes after Reliance Jio announced the launch of its fibre broadband services, which could be a big threat to both Vodafone and Idea Cellular.
Like in data tariff, the entry of Reliance Jio in the direct to home fibre business could bring another tariff war in broadband.
At its annual general meeting of on Thursday, Reliance Industries announced a new host of services in the FTTH (Fibre-to-the-Home) sector by Reliance Jio. The telco announced its new service of Jio GigaFiber and Jio GigaTV. With 1Gbps speed, Jio will be offering its fibre broadband service to 1,100 cities initially. The registration for the service would start on August 15th on My Jio app and Jio official website reported Telecom Talk.
