Mumbai: Bill payments can now be made through Citibank's new mobile facility. The Bill Pay service will message (SMS) customers on their mobile on their utility bill payment amount due. All the customer needs to do is authorise payment by simply replying "Pay" via SMS. He will receive an instant acknowledgement via SMS. His bill will be paid and charged to his Citibank account or credit card.

Launching the new facility, Sarvesh Sarup, country business manager, global consumer group, Citigroup, said, "This facility takes bill payments to the next level of evolution for our over five million customers. It reaches out to customers to update them on bills that are due, even if they are traveling and enables them to pay through their mobile without any effort on their part. This is convenience at its best with the customer in full control any time, anywhere."

The service also promises security. It ensures that the customer does not have to key in his credit card or account number to effect the transactions nor are full account details revealed over SMS at any time during the transaction.

To register, customers can connect to Citibank Online or 24 hour Citiphone banking and give their bill details and indicate their preferred mode of payment — Citibank online (internet), SMS, phones or Citibank ATM kiosks.
