CNNGo offers a new take on Mumbai

11 Oct 2010

CNNGo, the monthly travel offering from CNN International, offering a unique take on global destinations by bringing together views from genuine insiders, has chosen Mumbai as its destination for October.

The show explores the other side of Mumbai, taking viewers beyond Bollywood and the bulls and bears of Dalal Street, with the help of an eclectic group of Mumbaikars, each uniquely representative of the many faces of the cosmopolitan city.

CNNGo will first explore the streets of Chapel road with visual artist Dhanya Pilo as she showcases her unique initiative, which has converted neglected city walls into colourful works of art with graffiti, slogans, caricatures and even social service messages on issues ranging from the dangers of smoking to environmental degradation.

A steep climb to the top of Gilbert Hill for sunset views of the city below follows the walk round Chapel road.

CNNGo then brings the view from the roof of the Imperial Twin Towers, the tallest residential structures in Mumbai with architect Kapil Gupta as he discusses the changing urban landscape of the city.

The next stop is at 'The Blue Frog', a Mumbai hotspot that is a hybrid between a restaurant and an opera house, built at four levels allowing all patrons a clear view of the stage during the frequent live performances.
