Codan among Patni Computers' two new managed services accounts

25 Aug 2010

Patni, IT and BPO services provider, today announced that it has secured two accounts, Scandinavia-based Codan Group and Serco Learning.

With the Codan Group, Patni has signed a seven-figure contract over three years to provide managed services around some of Scandinavia's core insurance platforms.

The Codan Group is part of the insurance giant RSA Group and operates in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.

It is one of the largest insurance groups in Scandinavia and offers general insurance products to both personal and commercial customers as well as marine insurance to commercial customers in Finland.

Frank Andersen, CIO, Codan, said, ''We chose Patni because of its in-depth understanding of the insurance sector and the applications that we use to run our business. In particular, we appreciated the involvement of senior executives in our negotiations and Patni's early investment in both the relationship and the region.''

Codan narrowed in on Patni, after inviting five companies for bidding in September 2009 and short listing three vendors in March 2010.

Patni disclosed that the second contract is a seven-year agreement for the development and delivery of 'Progresso', Serco's new information management platform for schools. Serco Learning provides educational technology solutions to over 2,000 schools and local authorities worldwide.

'Progresso' is a centrally hosted management information platform that provides relevant data, tools and services directly to schools, parents and local authorities, and is expected to replace Serco's existing platform, 'Facility'.

Arthur Musgrove, head of EMEA transformation programmes at Patni, said, ''This new partnership with Serco Learning is a fantastic example of how we can work together with clients on transitional programmes of change from legacy systems to new platforms based on leading edge technologies.''

Patni works on verticals like banking, financial services and insurance; manufacturing, retail and distribution; life sciences; communications, media and utilities and services about 2000 clients globally.
