Dell to acquire SaaS Boomi

03 Nov 2010

After having lost its bid for virtual storage firm 3Par in September (See: HP knocks out Dell for 3PAR with $2.4-bn bid), computer maker Dell says it is acquiring SaaS (software-as-a-service) integration provider Boomi for an undisclosed sum.

The deal would help hasten Dell's plans in cloud computing by adding Boomi's top-seeded integration cloud solution to SaaS capabilities.

Powered by its AtomSphere technology, Boomi offers the industry's only pure SaaS application integration platform that reduces the complexity out of integrating applications by allowing easy transfer of data between cloud-based and on-premise applications with no appliances, no software and no coding required.

Headquartered in Berwyn, Pa, Boomi's technology solutions are widely used with the world's leading cloud-based applications, including Salesforce CRM, as well as marketing, financial, human resources, content management and service-desk management.

Working directly with customers and through its growing network of channel providers, Boomi manages millions of transactions a month and has completed tens of thousands of cloud integrations for hundreds of customers globally across a wide spectrum of industries.

The recent acquisition plans represent another step by Dell to build a technology portfolio for growing businesses seeking the benefits of web-based computing while addressing one of the top barriers to cloud adoption - managing and integrating cloud-based applications with existing applications and databases.

As businesses embrace SaaS, Boomi enables them deploy application integrations in reduced time with reduced costs and realise productivity and efficiency improvements over traditional models.
