Dr Prathap C Reddy honoured for healthcare delivery in South Asia

Chennai: Dr Prathap C Reddy, MD, founder and chairman of the Chennai-based Apollo Hospitals Group, the largest hospital and healthcare services network in Asia, has won the Asia-Pacific BioBusiness Leadership Award 2005, the first in a series of regional and global bio-business leadership awards given out by the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business.

"Through his revolutionising of modern healthcare delivery in South Asia, Dr Reddy is bringing world-class healthcare and the benefits of advanced technologies within the economic and geographic reach of millions of patients for the first time. Dr Reddy is one of a growing number of inspirational leaders providing the foundation for future growth and development for bio business in Asia-Pacific," said Carl Feldbaum, chairman of the selection committee for the Asia-Pacific BioBusiness Leadership Award and president emeritus of the US Biotechnology Industry Organization.

Global BioBusiness Initiative, a programme of the USC Marshall Center for Global Business Excellence (C-Globe) is the sponsor of the BioBusiness Leadership Awards. Led by Dr Gurinder S Shahi, the Global BioBusiness Initiative serves as an international resource dedicated to facilitating interdisciplinary leadership in the biobusiness area.

The Asia-Pacific BioBusiness Leadership Award 2005 will be presented to Dr. Reddy at the USC Asia-Pacific Business Outlook 2005 on April 7, 2005. The 18th annual executive conference on Asia trade and investment is one of the longest-running conferences about the Pacific Rim economics.

The BioBusiness Leadership Awards recognise leading individuals, organisations or corporations that best exemplify the spirit of innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship in areas of bio-business, a field that incorporates healthcare, biomedical, agricultural, food, environmental and emerging technology areas in the life sciences and biotechnology.
