DuPont divests Linuron Herbicide assets as part of crop protection strategy

DuPont has announced that it has sold its linuron herbicide assets to the Belgian Tessenderlo Kerley (TKI), which will acquire global rights to the linuron business, including trade names, registrations and registration data.

NovaSource will market and develop the linuron product, Tessenderlo said.

Linuron herbicide is marketed globally under the DuPontLorox and Linex brands, as well as several associated mixture trademarks. This specialty herbicide is used primarily in the carrot, asparagus, celery, potato, cotton and soybean markets.

''As part of our strategy to continually renew and revitalise our crop protection portfolio, DuPont uses select, strategic divestitures of niche products like linuron to allow us to put more focus, time and resources into our emerging pipeline of new crop protection chemistry,'' said Jim Collins, vice president and general manager, DuPont Crop Protection. ''This enables us to increase the momentum and focus of our business as we continue to develop new answers to growers' needs and advance agriculture,'' he added.

''TKI is committed to expanding the crop protection range of our company,'' TKI CEO Jordan Burns said. ''We intend to continue building our NovaSource Crop Protection group with the addition of strategic products as they become available.''

DuPont is a science-based products and services company.

Tessenderlo is a Belgian producer of inorganics, polyvinyl chloride, pharmaceutical intermediates and plastic profiles and pipes.
