ECIL implements Karnataka''s e-governance project

Hyderabad: Electronics Corporation of India limited (ECIL) has announced the implementation of the Karnataka Valuation and e-Registration (KAVERI), Karnataka's e-governance project. The project, based on the Build — Operate — Transfer (BoT) basis for a period of five years, will add to the infrastructure of the state.

ECIL, will be responsible for the execution and administration of the project including manpower deployment, consumable planning, software installation, and site preparation. In addition, ECIL will supply, install and commission hardware in over 199 centres in 23 districts, including the office of Inspector General Registration & Commissioner of Stamps of Karnataka.

Commenting on the successful implementation of the project, G.P.Srivastava, chairman and managing director, ECIL, said that ECIL's computerized network would allow people to fulfill the registration process much faster and have instant access to valuation documents, encumbrance certificates and other documents related to land records. Moreover, the computerized process will ensure authenticity of transactions, safeguarding the citizen's interests against fraud and added, "The KAVERI project is yet another success story in our endeavor to help build infrastructure in the country."

Each of the district registrar offices will be equipped with a state of the art server and an internal network connecting computers, printers, scanners and CD writers within the office including the customer kiosks. A finger print scanner and web cameras will capture the finger prints and photograph of the person wishing to register the documents. To facilitate e-governance all transactions will be recorded in the centralized server, which is accessed by the IGR&CS.

ECIL's other e-governance initiatives across the country
Commenting on ECIL's e-Governance initiatives, Mr. Srivastava said, "We have spearheaded e-governance projects across the country and their successful implementation is a testimony to ECIL's project management and system integration capabilities."

These projects include issuance and renewals of Computerised Bus Pass scheme for Delhi Transport Corporation, Thane Municipal Corporation, Metropolitan Transport Corporation of Chennai, North West and North East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation; Computerised Citizen's ID cards project for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands' District Administration, Computerised Ration Cards for the Karnataka Government, and setting up Citizen Service Bureaus in New Delhi.

In Andhra Pradesh, ECIL has already implemented large scale projects including - Computerisation and Project Management of: 170 Market Yards across the state, Road Transport Authority's FAST for issuing driving licenses, Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad's utility bill payment facilities and Land Revenue Offices through CARD project for land records.
