Mumbai: Telecom retail chain Essar Telecom Retail is keen on achieving a turnover of Rs 4,000 crore within the next three years, according to reports.

Reports echo company CEO and director, Rajiv Agarwal's confidence in securing a a turnover of Rs 800 crore this fiscal, and plans to scale up to Rs 4,000 crore in the next three years.

The company is also reportedly about to undertake massive expansion plans for its retail network during the same period, to about 2,500 stores from the existing 300. The company's retail network will see its presence in over 600 towns and cities in about three years, with a headcount of around 12,000 - 15,000.

As of now, Essar Telecom Retail has 300 stores across 35 cities, employing around 2,000 personnel. The end of this fiscal should see that number go up to 300 stores, according to company plans, with the headcount reaching 5,000.

Barriers to entry into this retail segment include high rentals and space, which curtail presence in high visibility and prime locations.
