Facebook launches Facebook at Work in India

Facebook has announced the rollout of Facebook at Work in India. With the initiative, the social network aims to carry its endeavour to make the world more open and connected in to the workplace too.

Facebook aims to make workplaces more productive with the introduction of simpler ways to collaborate and connect with co-workers.

According to the company, several companies in India such as L&T Infotech, YES Bank, Godrej Industries and businesses like Delhivery and Zomato, had started using Facebook at Work with employees as well.

India is among the top countries using Facebook at Work the social network's team would start testing the solution with more companies.

Developed as a mobile-first solution, Facebook thinks it would be accepted well in India, where over 142 million people are Facebook users, and almost 90 per cent come back on mobile.

''People understand how to use features like the News Feed, Groups, Messages, and Events. However, while it's a similar experience, Facebook at Work is separate from a personal account.

In a completely secure way only coworkers within a company, from the CEO to the retail store employee, can see information posted on Facebook at Work,'' Facebook said in a statement.

The enterprise social network (ESN) for businesses, is currently under beta mode, and is being used by 450 companies in Inda and about 60,000 companies across the world are in the queue. The social media giant expects ESN to be a major source of revenue in the future.

"India has turned out to be a very important market for us as the growth we have seen here is phenomenal. Start-ups as well as traditional companies have shown a lot of interest in the product," said Julien Codorniou, director, platform partnerships. "We've been adding a new company every day over the past few months, and India has seen the fastest adoption rates," he added.
