Chennai: Ford India, the Indian subsidiary of the US auto major Ford Motor Company, has added one more product to its portfolio: Mondeo.

The digitally designed Mondeo is imported in a completely built form from Ford’s German plant. The car is available in two versions (2-litre petrol and diesel) and in three metallic colours (Stardust Silver, Panther Black and Oyster).

Mondeo comes with features that were not offered to Indian customers as part of the standard car. The car has a range of safety features to make it the safest car on the Indian roads. The protection features include pyrotechnic seat-belts with pre-tensioners, load-limiting retractors, side-pushers and door-beams, ergonomic pull-out door handles, safety cell, dual stage driver and front-passenger airbags, impact-protected front bumper and decoupling brake pedal, among others.

In Chennai, the ex-showroom price of the petrol version is Rs 15.56 lakh while the diesel model is priced at Rs 16.79 lakh. Priced lower than Mercedes C Class and higher than Hyundai’s Sonata and Honda’s Accord, Mondeo will be competing for road space along with them.
