Ford recalls F-150 trucks, E-Series vans to fix faulty seat bolts

27 Jul 2017

Ford has issued a recall for 2014 Ford F-150 pick-up trucks, E-Series vans, 2014-2015 Escape and 2015 Lincoln MKC SUVs, over seat bolts. The recall will impact around 117,000 North American vehicles built with weak seating bolts.

Improper tempered bolts might have been used in  the seat, seatback, seatbelt and seatbelt buckle in the 2014 F-150 and E-Series; 2014-2015 Escape; and 2015 Lincoln MKC.

"In affected vehicles, if a seat, seatback or seatbelt anchor attaching bolt fractures, the structural integrity of the seat or the seatbelt system's performance may be compromised in a sudden stop or crash, increasing the risk of injury," Ford said in a statement.

Ford said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue. The customer will be able to get the faulty bolts replaced by Ford dealers at no cost.

The recall involved 116,796 vehicles in North America, including 94,605 in the US and federalised territories, 20,681 in Canada and 1,510 in Mexico.
