Fortis to open four new hospitals by 2013

29 Aug 2011

Fortis Healthcare (India) will open four new hospitals as part of its nationwide expansion programme and these are expected to be operational by 2013.

These include new hospitals at Bangalore, Kochi  and Bilaspur, while Fortis will take over management of the cardiac care unit at HLG hospital in Asansol, West Bengal.

"These new hospitals across the country conform to our plan for strengthening the Fortis network in India," Fortis Healthcare (India) chief executive Aditya Vij said.

The launch of new hospitals will take the total number of beds available with Fortis Hospitals to 10,270, he said in a release.

The new hospital at Bangalore, which will commence operations in 2013, will offer tertiary care while the 45-bed hospital at Kochi would be exclusively for women, under the 'Fortis La Femme' brand.

The Bilaspur hospital would cater to Kullu-Manali-Mandi belt, Fortis said.

In West Bengal, Fortis would operate and manage a 50-bed cardiac care unit at multi-speciality HLG hospital in Asansol.

Fortis Healthcare (India) Ltd has completed a decade since the first hospital (Mohali) started. The hospital group has since grown aggressively into a 56-hospital healthcare chain spanning the country.
