Geometric forms virtual product design group

Mumbai: Geometric Software Solutions Company Ltd has set up a new group for virtual product design. The new group will offer customers end-to-end product development solutions - from conceptual design analysis to development of tools necessary for manufacture to simulation of the shop floor layout, data management maintenance and enhancements.

This would further align the OEM focus of the company as companies move away from physical prototypes to virtual or digital mock-ups to reduce cost and time to market entry of new models, a company statement said.

The VPD group will facilitate additional capability to the company in terms of offering services in the area of advanced CAE and CFD for automobile, aerospace and the general engineering domains.

Suresh Nagesh will head of the virtual product design practice.

Geometric reported a 10 per cent rise in first quarter (April-June 2006-07) operating revenues in dollar terms and 13 per cent in rupee term compared to previous quarter. Operating revenues increased by 41 per cent in dollar terms and 48 per cent in rupee terms compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
