Globus comes up in Chennai

Rajan Raheja group has launched its retail chain store, Globus, in Chennai. This is the second such venture by the group after Indore.
Spread over 40,000 square feet space, across three levels and nearly 1.2 lakh store-keeping units, the store stocks over 300 brands of clothes and accessories.
According to Ved Prakash Arya, CEO, Globus Stores Pvt Ltd, Globus is designed as a family store which will cater to the middle class and above.
Mr Arya said Globus was set up with an initial investment of Rs 18 crore, excluding the cost of the land. Out of this, Rs 10 crore was spent on technology alone. The entire supply chain system has been supported by ERP software from the US company, JD Armstrong.
The store offers several incentives to lure customers. Some of the special ones are: Globus Elite Programme. This facility provides customers privileges such as, exclusive shopping hours, discounts, and other promotional offers on purchase of goods worth Rs 1,500 or on payment of Rs 100.
Loyalty card --- helps the store track customer purchase patterns and preferences.
The store will award some points to customer on purchase of goods which will be valid across the country.
The group has finalised a plan to launch its third store at Hill Road, Bandra in Mumbai. By 2001 the group will have five outlets.
