General Motors India is all set to cross the one-lakh-mark sales figure this year amid robust car sales and would expand the dealerships from 206 to 300 by the end of the year.

''Last year we sold close to 70,000 units and this year we plan to sell around one lakh units,'' Karl Slym, GM India managing director told newsmen at the launch of the CNG version of mid-size sedan Chevrolet Aveo in Ahmedabad yesterday.

He added that in the first part of the year the company had registered a 139-per cent sales growth as against the industry average of 37-38 per cent.

He said that the company's efforts would be towards putting in place around 300 sales points and an equal number of authorised service outlets from the existing 200.

GM sold around 43,000 units in the first four months of this year as against 18,000 units in the same period last year, according to company vice-president for corporate affairs P Balendran. He added that Gujarat contributed nearly 10 per cent to GM's overall sales, after the Delhi region.

He said the company would sold around 1,100 cars a month in Gujarat.
