GM launches Chevrolet Aveo variant

New Delhi: General Motors India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, has launched a new variant of its hatchback Chevrolet Aveo U-VA in India. The car comes with additional interiors and exterior features and is priced between Rs. 3.98 lakh and Rs. 5.11 lakh.

GM India vice president P Balendran speaking at the launch of the car said, "The new Chevrolet U-VA brings superlative value and additional safety, security and luxury to our customers," he said.

The car, launched in the presence of its brand ambassador and movie star Saif Ali Khan, has driver airbag and ABS system for enhanced occupant safety. It has a keyless entry system with burglar alarm for improved vehicle security and ownership convenience, a rear spoiler, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob to enhance driver appeal. Moreover, the car comes with a wider windscreen, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, split-folding rear seats, and deco moulding on the instrument panel and door trims.

Balendran said with the company's new plant at Talegaon starting production in September 200, GM is now in a position to rise its presence in the Indian market through the Chevrolet brand. He said the company would continue to roll out new products and also revitalise its existing line up to create new excitement in the market.
 
The new Chevrolet Aveo is being launched as a part of the company's worldwide centenary year celebrations. It was unveiled by its brand ambassador and Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The company has rolled out a new advertisement campaign featuring Saif Ali Khan.

The car is being promoted as the 'Bada dil badi car', or the big car with a big heart tag. The new campaign is being seen across channels with approximately 120 spots per day and over 200 spots on the weekends.

The company produces Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet SR-V, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Tavera under the Chevrolet brand name.
Apart from the new Chevrolet Aveo the company had launched the new 'Chevrolet Tavera NEO 2' Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) in Hyderabad a few days ago. The 'Tavera NEO 2' is claimed to be one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class. GM says it combines trouble-free performance with comfortable passenger accommodation.

Company officials said the Tavera recently finished second in its segment in the J D Power Asia Pacific 2008 India Initial quality study. It has proven itself over the years to be a highly reliable, comfortable and fuel-efficient vehicle.

The new features in the model include a bold chrome-plated grille inset with a refreshed Chevrolet logo, and sporty decals running down its sides.
