Godrej Agrovet ties-up with Taiwanese firm for shrimp feed

Mumbai: Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL) has tied-up with Uni-President Enterprises Corporation, a Taiwan-based company, to further strengthen the business of shrimp feed in India. A mutual understanding has been reached C K Vaidya, aanaging director of GAVL and Chih Peng Hsieh, president of Provision Group, Uni-President Enterprises Corporation, part of UPEC Group, a $7-billion food major from Taiwan. The group has operations throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The major businesses of UPEC Group include food and beverages, food retailing and provisions, apart from the aquatic business.

Announcing the tie-up, Vaidya said, "We are happy to enter into this alliance with UPEC group, Taiwan, especially since it is a highly reputed group with diverse businesses. This tie-up will benefit both the companies as it will help consolidate our position in the shrimp feed business in India, while providing an opportunity for UPEC group to source raw materials from India for its Asia-Pacific region."

A R Subbarao, vice president, GAVL added, "GAVL has always been a leading player in the animal feed sector in India. We have a strong presence in the shrimp feed business through our manufacturing units in Chennai and Vijaywada. This tie-up will enable us to further enhance GAVL''s shrimp feed business in the country."

Godrej Agrovet Ltd., is a part of the Rs45 billion Godrej Group, and is a major player in the Indian agricultural sector with a large presence in cattle, poultry and aqua feeds, innovative agricultural inputs, oil palm plantation and plant biotech.
