New Delhi: Godrej Consumer Products has emerged the best Indian company in India's first-ever list of the Top 25 Great Places to Work.

It ranked sixth overall where the top five are all multinational companies. The five-month-long survey was conducted by Delhi-based Grow Talent Company in collaboration with Businessworld and Great Place to Work Institute.

Says Godrej Consumer Products executive director H K Press: "Our most valuable asset is our people and our goal is to be an employer of choice. We focus on commitment to work-life balance, a strong vision, stability of the company's core values and creating a pool of fantastic people. Striking a balance between maintaining our values and managing performance, compensation and employee satisfaction has made all the difference. We continuously strive to create an atmosphere of trust and communication between management and employees."

As per the survey Wipro Spectramind and Birla Sun Life Insurance are the other two Indian companies beside GCPL to feature among the list of Top 10. The first list was compiled by the Great Place to Work Institute in the US in 1984. Since then, the surveys done by the organisation have become an annual feature in over 20 countries around the world. The results of the survey are featured exclusively in leading publications like Fortune magazine, Financial Times and The Sunday Times, London.

The survey by the Great Place to Work Institute is conducted in 23 countries and around 120 companies participated in it. The survey operates on a simple premise: 'Employee knows best'. The companies participating in the survey has to go through the same rigorous methodology followed in the rest of the world. Grow Talent first administered the Great Place To Work Culture Audit. The firms had to answer searching questions on what they had done to create a climate of trust, pride and camaraderie — the three cornerstones of great workplaces.
