Google to acquire marketing firm Incentive Targeting

Internet giant Google yesterday said that it will buy marketing firm Incentive Targeting in order to target marketing service to manufacturers of grocery and consumer products.

Google did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Founded in 2007 by Ben Sprecher, Cambridge- (Massachusetts) based Incentive Targeting provides targeted shopper promotion systems.

The company partners with retail chains to provide a targeted marketing service to grocery and consumer products manufacturers to market directly to individual shoppers across its retail network based on person's purchase history.

It offers promotions through various distribution channels, such as email or direct mail, while its  patent-pending technology allows non-technical marketing executives to design targeted promotions and measure ROI in real time over the Web.

In October 2011, it raised $4.4 million in a second round of funding from Hub Angels Investment Group and others.
