Hyderabad: Havells India, which claims to be the fastest growing electrical products company in India, has acquired the brand rights of Crabtree (from the parent company, Crabtree UK) for the Indian market.

Crabtree is a known global brand of electrical accessories, and sells the largest no of MCBs in Europe. Crabtree India started out as a joint venture between Crabtree UK and Havell's India in 1996. Currently Crabtree manufacturers modular switches and premium bath fittings in India and plans to foray into other high-end electrical accessories. Anil Gupta, director, Havell's India said, "We will further foray into premium and lifestyle categories through the Crabtree brand. In the coming 2-3 years, we expect the brand to generate Rs.250-300 crore for the company."

A few years ago, Havell's India had acquired the stake in the Crabtree Group.

Crabtree Modular switches are manufactured in an ISO 9001:2000 certified facility at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. The plant follows quality systems of Group Electrium, which are more stringent than the standards prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

In December 2005, Havell's India received the Kema Keur quality certification for its miniature circuit breakers from Kema Quality BV of the Netherlands.

Kema Quality BV is an independent authority in quality testing and certification of power distribution equipment.
