Havells Rs400 crore expansion plans

Mumbai: Electrical equipment manufacturer Havells India has laid out plans to Rs400 crore in capacity expansion, and the development of business interests in a new segment, the manufacturing of electrical motors.

The company has spent Rs200 crore during the current financial year, on expansion, according to a statement by Havells India's  joint managing director Anil Gupta. The company is reported to be setting up a greenfield facility in Rajasthan for the manufacture of electrical motors ranging from 0.25 horse power to 500 horse power. The company has already spent Rs150 crore for setting up the plant.

Rajasthan is a preferred destination for Havells, as a the presence of a number of manufacturing industries in the region gives it the opportunity be geographically close to its market, and additionally, cross sell existing products.

Capacity expansion will follow on around 17 acres of land that the company has purchased near its facility in Alwar, where it will manufacture high tension and domestic cables.
