New Delhi: HCL Comnet, India's leading IT services management company, is aggressively targeting the huge global remote infrastructure management market.

In line with its global initiative, the company participated in LOMA 2003, one of the largest events catering to the Insurance sector in the US, in the second week of March 2003 in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Under the brand name 'CANOPi' HCL Comnet participated in this event with its parent company, HCL Technologies, showcasing its suite of services specifically targeted at the insurance vertical.

Says HCL Comnet chief operating officer (global operations) Anant Gupta: “With eight global customers in our basket, we understand that the world of business today has evolved into a single market place where the discerning customer demands the best quality at the most competitive price. Participation in LOMA 2003 is a reinforcement of our long-term plans to further penetrate the global market, with our proven capabilities in India.“

LOMA Systems Forum 2003 will address all the concerns of an organisation, pertaining to security, e-business, project management and software solutions in the insurance and financial services sector. Targeted at the chief information officers, the forum provides an insight into the emerging technologies best suited to the sector.

Currently, HCL Comnet monitors and manages complete IT infrastructure for over 74 clients, 7,000-plus nodes across 450-plus cities and three continents through its state-of-the-art intelligent operations management centre (OMC). Providing comprehensive remote outsourcing solution for multi-vendor, multi-technology environment, guaranteeing high uptimes and significantly improved performance, the managed services proposition serves an enormous quality-cost advantage to the global customer.

Adds Gupta: “Remote management is the next big wave after the software boom. With companies saving 50 per cent of their IT infrastructure costs by deployment of remotely managing their complete IT infrastructure, they can focus on their core business better.“

Typically, a medium-sized organisation spends 32 per cent of its IT budget in infrastructure management (Source: Gartner). Through managing remote, this cost can be effectively reduced by 50 per cent. A typical company of about 5,000 employees can get a cost benefit of $9.7-18.4 million per annum by outsourcing their IT infrastructure management.

The saving can vary from 35.8 per cent to 50.7 per cent of the total IT infrastructure management cost of $170 million over five years. This saving is accrued because of saving in cost due to reduced in-house IT infrastructure management staff and better SLA deliverables because of outsourcing.
