New Delhi: HCL InfiNet (www.hclinfinet.com), the Internet subsidiary of HCL Infosystems, Indias premier information enabling company, has announced the reduction in price of the Valufon card.

A call to the US will now cost only Rs 4.99 per minute a reduction of more than 16 per cent. The calling rates for other countries have also been similarly slashed. Through this promotional offer, HCL InfiNet is looking to give more net telephony users a taste of the quality available through Valufons premium bandwidth.

The Valufon card allows callers over 250 cities to log on at local call rates. The fact that one does not need an ISP connection is one of the major advantages of Valufon. Using a Valufon is a different experience altogether, says HCL InfiNet president M Saurav Adhikari. The customer call goes to HCL InfiNets managed service called VoiceNet, which provides a customer an assured bandwidth for placing a call.

Talking about the new price, Adhikari says: The reduction in cost means that more users can dial across the world and have access to quality voice service. It is clear that HCL InfiNet, which remains one of the front-runners in the net telephony market, is expecting to augment the lead with this reduction in cost.

HCL InfiNet announced their entry into the Internet telephony market in June 2002 with the launch of Valufon, Indias first co-branded premium Internet calling card. It not only combines the innovative interactive features of voice over Internet protocol, but also provides the consumer with toll quality service over a managed network.

InfiNet has since expanded its collection of products, recently launching a range of Internet telephony devices into the Indian market.
