Honda Motors to recall 554,000 SUVs in the US over headlights failure

Japanese car maker Honda Motors is recalling about 554,000 sport utility vehicles in the US over faulty wiring in headlights.

The recall affects CR-V SUVs from model years 2002 to 2004 and Pilot SUVs from model year 2003 because the low-beam headlights might fail.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had launched an investigation last year after receiving 12 complaints that both headlights stopped working simultaneously.

Honda said that there was ''a potential failure with the wiring of the headlight switch,'' and that it would inspect and replace parts of the headlight wiring system.

No injuries or crashes have been reported relating to the issue, the carmaker said.

In a separate recall, Honda is also recalling about 1,300 of its 2006 CR-Vs because a weld on the suspension could fail, resulting in a loss of steering.

Honda said the weld attaches the subframe bushing collar to the passenger-side front lower arm.
