Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) is set to launch its CBR650F by July this year to mark its entry into the premium motorcycle segment, according to a top company official, NewsX reported.

"We are planning to introduce CBR650F sometime in July. It will be completely assembled in our plant. It is part of the Make in India concept promoted by the government...," HMSI, president and CEO Keita Muramatsu told reporters in Chennai.

According to Muramatsu, the plan to make an entry into the 650cc premium motorcycle segment formed part of the proposal to introduce 15 new models this year.

He said the company would introduce seven brand new models equipped with new engine and chassis.

Replying to a question about localisation levels of the CBR650cc motorcycle, he said initially it would be around 5 per cent as it would be brought in India as a completely knocked-down unit and the local component thereafter would increase in a phased manner.

The price of the motorcycle would be around Rs8 lakh, he added.

Meanwhile, The Indian Express reported that Honda had initiated the execution of its plans for 2015 by launching the first five products of the planned line-up. The company launched the third generation model of its hugely popular 110cc scooter, Activa. Additionally, the company also refreshed four other products of its existing line-up with mild cosmetic upgrades.

The Activa 3G, as the new scooter is called, has undergone some tweaks to the bodywork with a new headlamp and tail lamp cluster and a new 3-D logo on the side panels. The company had though retained the same old 110cc engine of the erstwhile Activa on this new model without any changes. The new Activa 3G is now on offer at a price of Rs48,852 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter would be available in five colours, namely Trance blue metallic, Lusty red metallic, Geny grey metallic, Black and Pearl amazing. With the launch of the Activa 3G, Honda also came out with refreshed versions of CB Shine, Dream Yuga, Dream Neo and Dio. All these four products would be offered with new schemes and graphics on the body panels.

As regards specific changes, the CB Shine now comes with a tinted front visor and new tail light, while the Dream Neo comes with a lockable side panel in response to the customer feedback. All these four models would be on sale within the period of next two months.
