Honeywell expands presence in fire safety in India

Gurgaon: Honeywell has announced that it will open a new manufacturing plant in Gurgaon, Haryana, for its System Sensor and Honeywell Analytics divisions.

Mark Levy, president of Honeywell Life Safety presided over the inaugural event, and said, ''There is significant opportunity for growth for fire protection, both active and passive protection, in India. Our portfolio is well positioned to help this dynamic economy with the latest fire detection and notification technology. Our people are committed to helping customers create safer environments as the region's building boom continues.''

''The state-of-the-art facility represents one of the largest investments in the India's fire safety industry.  It incorporates production designs and processes that have improved efficiencies at existing Honeywell manufacturing operations in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, and China.''

 According to Arun Khazanchi, director of System Sensor, India, ''We anticipate substantial job growth in manufacturing, facility maintenance, delivery, and administration as a result of this new operation.

Honeywell has invested $3 million in this facility, which is spread over 32,000 square feet, including 18,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

In addition to serving customers in India, this factory will manufacture products that are sold to customers in the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa.  It expects to deliver half a million fire alarm detectors and notification devices in its first full year of operation.
