Huawei launches Honor 8 with 12 MP dual-camera

Huawei Terminal's Honor brand, as per its promise unveiled its new Honor 8 smartphone at an event in China. The new smartphone would be available in China starting 19 July.

It would be available in three versions - CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs20,000) for the 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage model, CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs23,000) for the 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage model, and CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs25,000) for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage model.

Pre-orders for the Honor 8 had already opened in China, but the  Chinese company had so far not revealed availability plans for the Honor 8 outside China.

True to the buzz over weeks, the major highlight of the Honor 8 is its dual-rear camera setup.

It sports 12-megapixel dual-rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash and also boasts laser autofocus. It comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera on board as well. The smartphone which sports a USB Type-C port also supports fast charging. At the back, the handset has a fingerprint scanner. Another notable feature of the Honor 8 is its 7.45mm slim build. It comes with a metal frame and a glass back.

The Honor 8 features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) LTPS LCD display and boasts a pixel density of 423ppi.

The Honor 8 comes with  Android Marshmallow OS powered by Huawei's proprietary HiSilicon Kirin 950 octa-core processor with 3GB/4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt storage and a 3,000mAh battery with quick charge technology.

According to the company, the new Honor 8 would be initially released in China via Vmall from 19 July in five colour options- midnight black, pearl white, Sakura pink, sapphire blue and sunrise gold.
