Hyundai reports highest ever domestic sales in March 2010

Hyundai Motors today said that it recorded sales of 31,501 units in March 2010, in the domestic market, registering 27.3 per cent growth over March 2009, taking its total sales in financial year 2009-10 to 600,588 units, up from  497, 206 in 2008-09, a growth of 20.8 per cent.

The S Korean automaker said its total sales for March 2010 stood at 55,035 units as against 46,159 units in March, 2009 registering 19.2 per cent cumulative growth.

Domestic sales accounted for 31,501 units,. its best since it started operations in 1998, as against 24,754 units in March 2009, while exports grew from 21,405 units in March, 2009 to 23,534 units in March, 2010 reflecting 9.9 per cent growth YOY.

This takes Hyundai's three-month sales in the quarter ending January - March 2010, to 162,273, a growth of 33.5 per cent. For the same period last year sales stood at 121,565 units.

The segment-wise cumulative sales for the month of March, 2010 were  50,715 units in the A2 segment comprising Santro, i10, Getz and i20; 4,276 units in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna) ; 44 units in the A5 segment that has the Sonata Transform ; and nil for its SUV Tucson.
